For many women who leave correctional institutions without aftercare support, recidivism is a way of life. New Directions wants the women it serves to succeed, so naturally we began offering aftercare services to our graduates as soon our budget allowed. With support from several regional foundations and other generous donors, New Directions’ aftercare program has been going strong since we launched it in 2008.
The women who have completed our residential program are eligible for aftercare services upon their graduation from New Directions. Currently four of our ten on-site service providers offer workshops and meetings for aftercare participants.
New Directions’ aftercare services include intensive case management by a part-time, grant-funded Case Manager, ongoing parenting classes, workforce development training and assistance obtaining stable housing to encourage family reunification. For more information on our aftercare programming, please email Stacey Skiffer, our Program Coordinator, or call our offices at (215) 849-0930.
